19th Century Oak Chest on Stand 20.5"W x 38.5"L x 48"H
We acquired this piece from the estate of Elizabeth Hubbard (1933-2023), an Emmy award winning actress most notable for her roles in soap operas. The story of this piece as told by her son is that while living in NYC she was close friends with Barbra Streisand and apparently when Barbra would move from one place to another she would call up friends and ask them if they wanted specific pieces of furniture that she wasn’t going to take with her. This was a piece that Elizabeth Hubbard received from Barbra Streisand.
A fantastic early English oak chest on stand. Possibly a married piece (stand not original to top) - the drawers all match but the coloring of the oak as you can see in the photos is a bit off. It’s all made in the 19th century and perhaps the original stand was damaged, etc. Top can be secured to the base via two screws from behind. There are some small filler strips that were made to fit the base and it gives it a nice molded look. Some slight warping of the wood and the drawer bottoms but fully functional and solid.
Dimensions: 20.5 in W x 38.5 in L x 48 in H
