Birmingham England Sterling Silver Golf Trophy with Wooden Case c1950
Fantastic hallmarked Sterling silver (Birmingham, England c.1950) Made by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company at 112 Regent Street, London, W. The hallmarks appear to date this piece to 1950, the anchor meaning Birmingham, the lion meaning Sterling, and the upper case A within the shield with elongated stroke appears to be for 1950 manufacture date.
There is a small impressed dot to one area of the cup - that is the only minor condition to report. The photos show the piece in an unpolished state. The base appears to be made of an early plastic or bakelite.
The original presentation box or carrying box with brass handle and dovetailed joinery and silk lined padding has some shrinkage to the front door which makes it not able to close properly. You can see clearly where the front piece of wood has shrunk beyond the original mortis tenon joinery.
This piece has never been engraved, it makes a great piece for any golfer!
